Tuesday Tips: Dress Up Your Décor for the Holidays

How did it get to be December? The temperature's dropping and we’ve switched out our pumpkin spice lattes for peppermint mochas. While digging out our winter clothes, we realized that our homes deserve a new outfit as well. And it doesn't need to cost a fortune! Here are a few ideas we gathered that are a DIY (our favorite!) and festive way to dress up your home.

Metallic Mantel (Pictured to the left)

If you want to make your holiday home extra chic, stick to the neutral base of white and play up with metallic accents. Silver and gold really shine on the mantle, table, or shelf. We loved how this quiet white vase was made pretty with simple gold glitter tape. Add extra detail to the unadorned stockings with a hanging ornament as the perfect accessory.

DIY Decorative Pillows

A key piece for your couch, chair, or bed is the small decorative pillow that catches your eye. A pillow is an easy way to change up the room décor. With fabric paint, stencils, spray paint, and even markers, pillow covers have become super customizable and we love that they can really represent you!

Wine Cork Tree

Red? White? We love it all! Start collecting those wine corks to create this cute serving table decoration. You can make different sizes depending on what size inner Styrofoam cone you choose as the base. Wrap lights and ribbon around for a festive twist!

Cinnamon Stick Candles

This quick addition of cinnamon sticks to a white tumbler candle can add a great touch to a plain centerpiece. The best part is it's fool proof! Any size votive candle will work and mixing up the size of the cinnamon sticks glued onto them will create an original piece. Bonus: the scent will be present, but subtle, since it's not burning cinnamon scented wax.

Holly Jolly Cranberry Jars

This layered Mason jar is a great way to combine grocery store items to create a beautiful set of decorative pieces. Layering the Epson salt at the bottom creates the look of fresh white snow that allows the red and green to really pop!
