As we approach the birthday of Vincent van Gogh on March 30th, we couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming film, Loving Vincent.

Loving Vincent will use 56,800 hand-painted frames in the colorful, wide brush stroke style of van Gogh’s oil paintings.

The plot of the film is drawn from 800 personal letters written by van Gogh prior to his tragic suicide in 1890, at age 37. The animation technique is as revolutionary as its subject. The creators of the film are two Oscar winning film companies, Trademark Films and Breakthru Films.

Over the next two weeks, in celebration of van Gogh’s birthday and the upcoming film, we’re painting several van Gogh-inspired works.

On Wednesday, March 23rd, at our Newton studio, and Wednesday, March 30th on Newbury Street, we’ve scheduled our Boston skyline version of van Gogh’s famous painting, Starry Night.

On van Gogh’s actual birthday, March 30th, we’ll paint Lost Sunflowers at our Newton studio. This evening is specially priced at $20 per person to celebrate van Gogh’s birthday. A French wine and cheese tasting is included.

For details on these or other paintings, or to register for an unforgettable paint and sip evening in or nearby Boston, check out our full calendar here.
